ANTE ROOM (MAIN BAR)
An exquisite blend of contemporary design and cherished history, the Ante Room is comforting and welcoming. The perfect spot to begin your function at The Wellington Club with pre-lunch or pre-dinner drinks, or to even hold a cocktail reception for up to 150 guests. The large semi-circular windows look out over The Terrace and down Woodward Street to Lambton Quay. Beautiful leather chairs are placed by the windows to make the most of the sun.
Drake’s Acre is a stylish and contemporary bar and café, the perfect spot for breakfast, a light lunch or casual drink. Drake’s Acre is open to Members throughout the day, and spectacular views can be enjoyed equally during the day or evening. A small balcony overlooks The Terrace, providing a wonderful spot to relax, while enjoying an “al fresco” lunch or morning tea. Daily newspapers and popular journals are available in the bar.
The Club's Business Centre on level 4 is separated into three areas: a well-sized meeting room comfortably seating up to six people; a smaller room where two people can meet or one person can work on a laptop; and a small and very private 'hide-away' complete with computer for Members & guests to catch up on their work, emails and other needs while away from home or the office. Photocopying is available from reception at a charge. All Club areas including the Business Centre are wired for WiFi.
Health & Fitness Centre
With an area covering over 116 square metres, the Club's Health and Fitness Centre is the envy of other private Clubs. Members can work-out - in absolute private from the Public - on the high technology aerobic systems and traditional weight training equipment. Fitness classes or personal training with our experienced trainers are very popular and in high demand. Besides its modern equipment the Health & Fitness Centre offers through its experienced and highly qualified instructor and associated trainers, tailor-made exercise programmes for all ages and levels of fitness, self defence courses and nature walks.

With a library atmosphere of peace and quiet together with comfortable armchairs, the Reading Room is a sanctuary to escape the bustle and catch up on some reading and current events. New Zealand newspapers, international business magazines and a collection of old and new books are available for Members and guests to browse. Dress code of jacket and tie is required for the Reading Room, and cell phones are not permitted.
A large and most impressive Billiard Room boasts four full-sized slate-topped tables of international playing standard. The old hunting trophies and competition cups displayed add to the sporting atmosphere.
There are 38 car parks available to Members. Guests and Members of reciprocal Clubs, when staying in the Club's accommodation, may use this facility free of charge. It is located in the basement of the Club building with direct lift access to all Club floors. Locked and covered, situated right in the heart of the city.
The Wellington Club has had squash court facilities since 1935 and today’s modern facility is used regularly by Members to keep fit. Members of the squash club do not necessarily need to be Members of the Wellington Club.
PRIVATE Function Rooms
THE Wellesley ROOM
Over-looking The Terrace and the historic Pohutukawa tree, the Wellington Room is perfect for medium-sized functions. It can accommodate up to 60 guests for a cocktail reception and includes a well-appointed bar. Located on the fourth floor, it can be used also for drinks after meetings held in the McCarthy or Featherston Rooms.
tHE FEATHERSTON ROOM
Suitable for meetings or private dining, the Featherston Room can accommodate up to 10 people seated at a table. Boasting natural light and windows facing the Terrace, this is a beautiful room to hold board meetings during the day.
THE MCCARTHY ROOM
Also on the fourth floor, adjoining the Featherston Room, the McCarthy Room can accommodate up to 16 people for a board room meeting, or up to 35 for a theatre style meeting. The McCarthy and Featherston Rooms have a dividing wall which can be removed to create a larger space using both rooms for meals, presentations or meetings.
MAIN DINING ROOM
With its high ceilings and large windows overlooking The Terrace, the Main Dining Room has a character unlike any other venue in Wellington. It speaks of history and class, so rare and special. The Main Dining Room can seat up to 160 guests comfortably. During the week the Main Dining Room is used for buffet and à la carte luncheons. This room can also be separated into one larger and one smaller private dining room. It is the most popular room for cocktail receptions by members of the Diplomatic Corps on such occasions as National Day Celebrations due to its large capacity of up to 350 guests.
The Kumutoto Room is named after the Kumutoto Pa, which was located where The Wellington Club is currently situated, and the nearby Kumutoto stream. The Kumutoto Room on level 6, boasts fabulous facilities. It has a 65” television screen, a built-in projector and 100” screen which can show PowerPoint, TV, DVDs and has a document camera port. It has also a high quality sound system available for private functions.
The maximum capacity for a private dinner is up to 80 and 120 guests for a cocktail function. Alternatively, the Kumutoto Room can be made smaller for a more cozy gathering using the dividing wall. The Kumutoto Room is named after the Kumutoto Pa, which was located where The Wellington Club is currently situated, and the nearby Kumutoto stream.
The Morrison Room can be used for private breakfasts, lunches and dinner or other business functions. The room has an amazing view over The Terrace, down Woodward Street and a glimpse of the harbour. It can accommodate up to 40 guests (on two tables) for dinner or a theatre-style presentation.
