Victoria at the Club: The Zero Carbon Bill: How prepared are organisations for climate change?

Victoria at the Club with Senior Lecturer Dr Binh Bui

The New Zealand government has announced the Zero Carbon Bill to address the long term challenges of climate change. Of particular importance in this bill is the role played by carbon reduction targets and carbon budgets, carbon accounting and reporting. These carbon accounting mechanisms are not only critical at the national level, but also at industry and organisational levels. In this talk, Dr Bui will provide insights into NZ organisations and how they respond to climate change issues, the NZ Emissions Trading Scheme and how prepared they are regarding carbon accounting and control systems. She will also discuss findings regarding how the world’s largest companies are taking action.

Dr Bui is a Senior Lecturer in Accounting at the School of Accounting & Commercial Law at Victoria University of Wellington. She has 12 years' experience researching climate change, emissions trading & organisational response.
