Dr Cath Becker will be speaking about the incidence of skin cancer, including melanoma in New Zealand, which is the highest in the world overtaking Australia.
Becker says this is not a race we want to win!
She will show some photos of what skin cancer looks like, while explaining the risk factors, and what can be done about it (including detection, treatment, and surgery).
Dr Cath is a fellow of the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners and is an experienced GP.
Prior to this, she trained in general surgery and sub-specialities at Wellington and Hutt Hospitals. She currently splits here time between Wairarapa Hospital Plastics and her private practice at Selina Sutherland Hospital.
Dr Cath has a passion for ongoing learning and professional improvement. She has a Masters of Medicine Degree in Skin Cancer through the University of Queensland.
